    Sydney Central Station

    Sydney's Central Station is the largest railway station in Australia. It is located on the southern end of the Central Business District (CBD).


    intercity-, long distance- and suburban trains
    The station consist of two parts: a western- and an eastern part.
    In the past the western section was for steam trains; the east section for electric trains.

    The western half of Central Station (called Sydney Terminal) comprises 15 terminal platforms. It's used for long-distance trains and terminating intercity trains. Trains to Melbourne, Perth, Brisbane and Canberra leave from platform 1/3

    The eastern half consists of 12 through platforms. These platforms are used by suburban CityRail services and


    Metro Light Rail & Monorail
    Sydney has a a Light Rail and a Monorail.
    The light rail links Central Station and Sydney’s Inner Western Suburbs via Haymarket, Pyrmont, Glebe and Rozelle. The Light Rail stop is located in an outside concourse area of Central station.
    Sydney Monorail travels through the city to Darling Harbour. There is no stop at Central Station.


    airport stations
    The Domestic railway station at Sydney Airport is located directly between the T2 and T3 Terminals. The International railway station is located at the northern end of T1 terminal.
    The airport train (called Airport Link) connects all three terminals at the airport (fare is AUD$5). Airport Link transfer passengers in 13 minutes into Sydney's Central Station (fare is AUD$10).
